To be effective, Green IT must come from the top down. Implementing ad-hoc Green IT initiatives will do little to meet the immanent government legislations. This presentation will cover the information required by the board to make an informed Green IT strategy decision. The organisational brand and image could be at stake if Green IT is not made a priority in the board room. Make them aware realistic objectives and goals - Will the organisation really be Carbon Neutral by 2009?

Speaker Biographies
Bob Hayward
Bob Hayward has recently joined KPMG as Director of their IT Advisory division.

Bob was formerly Senior Vice President and Research Fellow Asia-Pacific and Japan for Gartner, responsible for business development and representing Gartner Research in the region. He was the first employee of Gartner in Asia-Pacific and Japan in 1995.

Bob has over 28 years experience in the IT industry, working in Europe, USA and the Asia-Pacific region at various senior levels within the Software and IT Services industry. Bob established and then managed the Asia-Pacific operations for Candle Corporation in the late 1980s (famous for the ‘Omegamon’ series of real time performance management software, and now owned by IBM), and introduced Tivoli Systems into the Asia-Pacific region through his own distribution company in the early 1990s.

He is a frequent keynote speaker at dozens of conferences and symposiums across the Asia-Pacific region, and is a regular guest on regional TV and radio technology shows.

Bob is an ex-Vice Chairman of the Australian Information Industries Association (AIIA), and ex-Chairman of the AIIA Public Policy Task Force, the main committee of the AIIA that works with the Federal Government of Australia on policy matters related to the ICT industry. He was also a member of the Shanghai Government IT Expert Advisory Board, an advisor to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG) and is on the Advisory Board for InQbator, an Australian-based technology incubator. Bob has frequent meetings with IT Ministers for Australia, Singapore, India, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.

Dane Anderson
Dane Anderson has a long history of success and respect in the IT research industry, having close to 13 years of experience in this specialised sector culminating in the co-founding of Springboard Research in 2004.

As well as being the co-founder, Dane is the CEO & Executive Vice President of Research at Springboard, providing his customers with the full spectrum of IT market research, with specializations in software, services, vertical markets, and partnering. In this capacity, Dane oversees Springboard, all research activities, and engages in the entire research process from project initiation to delivery.

Prior to founding Springboard Research, Dane worked for IDC Asia/Pacific for nearly a decade, based in both Hong Kong and Singapore. During this time, he played a major role in the firm's regional expansion and was instrumental in leading a number of key research areas, including personal systems, enterprise systems, vertical markets and consulting, as well as serving as a senior member of the company's regional management team during a period of rapid expansion. His last position with IDC Asia/Pacific was as Vice President of Consulting and Vertical Markets. Dane's views on the Asian IT market are commonly cited in prominent publications and broadcast media where he has gained a great reputation as an IT industry guru, and he is a sought after speaker at industry events in both Asia and the United States.

Dane graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from The Citadel in the United States.

Michael Barnes
Michael Barnes is globally recognized as a leading analyst and consultant in the domain of information and communications industry (ICT) software and services. With over 13 years of industry experience, Michael has built a strong reputation for helping organizations effectively leverage technology to meet their business objectives. He has also worked with leading software vendors to help steer their technology direction, strategic marketing messages and go-to-market strategies, based on industry analysis of technology trends as well as corporate IT buying patterns and business requirements.

At Springboard Research, he is responsible for all research and consulting focused on Software as well as heading up Springboard’s Asia Pacific research activities.

Prior to joining Springboard Research, Michael led software research in Asia Pacific for Gartner, where he advised large organizations and government agencies on strategies for sourcing, implementing, and managing enterprise applications and software technologies. He also brings strong research and domain expertise from his earlier stints at META Group, Hurwitz Group and Prudential Insurance.

Michael is an authoritative speaker and his insights and opinions on trends within the software and services market are highly sought after by varied audiences worldwide. Michael has a Masters Degree from Northeastern University in the United States.

Phil Hassey
Phil Hassey is widely considered as one of the leading technology industry analysts in the Asia Pacific region, and has an enviable reputation within the Services market in particular for understanding, assessing and providing insight into this the diverse and complex market. He has over 13 years experience in corporate strategy, consulting and market intelligence, gained in a diverse range of organizations and industries. Aside from overall services trends, Phil has a particular research focus on Offshore Service Delivery, emerging services delivery models and Business Process Outsourcing.

At Springboard Research, he is responsible for two critical areas of investment for the company. He has established, and manages the recent entry into the services industry for Springboard, in addition to the establishment of an Australian/New Zealand capability for the company. This will enable Springboard Research to further provide enhanced client insights in both the Services and ANZ market place to its clients.

Prior to his appointment at Springboard Research, Phil was responsible for driving IDC's research in the Services marketplace across the Asia/Pacific region. During his 6 years at IDC, Phil led a large multi-national team of analysts across a range of IT related services, from support, to consulting and integration, and IT and Business Process outsourcing market.
